Lotsa Siding (and Some More Insulation)
Cam, Peter and Sonny have started the siding and it is looking great. It is looking like a real house now! They put one coat of paint on the siding before putting it up on the house. The siding they are using is called Smart Lap and I believe it is treated engineered wood.
The people doing the insulating are going really fast and it looks like they might finish tomorrow. Almost all the walls are done and most of the vapour barrier is up and they have almost entirely done the floor in between the main level and the top level. There was a lot less echoing in the house tonight with all the insulation added.
Make sure you take a minute to admire the stairs going from our deck to the backyard. They are nice and wide and beautiful! I love that our main floor isn't one entire storey above the backyard. I think there are only eight stairs and so the deck feels like it is part of the backyard and not above it.

Insulation
Some days it seems that although there are a lot of people working on the house you don't really notice a difference (although I know a lot of work gets done). Other days there seems to be a lot of progress made in a very short time. Today was one of the latter days, and it amazed both John and I. You can see from the first two pictures how much of the insulation was used today - wow!

uh oh
I realize there is a lack of updates. I cut my finger tonight and spent a bit of time at emergency. I still have all my digits and my sense of humour although I am sure Ella and Wyatt are a bit traumatized! Anyway, there will be some updates tomorrow. Safe chopping to you all (and stay away from those dangerous cucumbers)!

Stairs Inside Complete!
Both flights of stairs are now complete inside. It is great to be able to go inside the house and head down to the basement, instead of having to go back outside and around the back and in again.

Finishing Up the Framing
Friday was a busy day at Ocean Oasis.
The Duradeck was laid on our back deck, more framing was done in the basement, the basement doors were put in, stairs from the basement to the main level were started, and part of our fireplace showed up.
In addition the electrician is still working away and we found a lot of work done on the main level in the form of light switch and electrical outlet boxes.

Electrical
The electrician (his name is Phil - thanks Phil!) has been working at the house for the last few days. We are slowly seeing the wiring put in place for the lights and electrical outlets. Figuring out where and what to put everywhere has definitely been interesting, but we have had a lot of help from a lot of people, especially Foreman Dave.
So when the house is done and you come in, please comment on the perfect placement and choice of light fixtures, and also the great placement of electrical outlets. A lot more thought and man hours went in to those decisions than I ever thought could be feasibly possible so it will be nice to know it is worth it!

The Floor Was Poured Today!
The basement floor and the garage and mudroom floors were poured today. This is great on so many levels but mostly it is great because it means that we will get stairs going down into the basement now, and the rest of the walls can be framed.
The flooring took over 20 cubic meters of cement and five truck hours and the men were at the lot for most of the day finishing the concrete.
