As mentioned in my first post John and I were planning initially on taking our time in planning and building our home. This all changed when we realized that the new Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) the government was planning on introducing in July 2010 would add substantial costs to our new home. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of John and I banging our heads against the wall. We seemed to spend the month of September doing this trying to make a decision about whether to push ahead to avoid the HST or continue to take our time. In the end we decided we could do it.
Our house designer was great to work with, accommodating with our changes. We were hoping to start building in February or March in order to avoid the HST and our designer was confident that the plans could be finished for then.
Off to the races for us...
